The Statue of Liberty is a colossal neoclassical sculpture on Liberty Island in New York Harbor, designed by Frédéric Bartholdi and dedicated on October 28, 1886. The statue, a gift to the United States from the people of France, is of a robed female figure representing Libertas, the Roman goddess of freedom, who bears a torch and a tabula ansata (a tablet evoking the law) upon which is inscribed the date of the American Declaration of Independence. A broken chain lies at her feet. The statue has become an iconic symbol of freedom and of the United States.

i chose liberty statue because it is famouse all over the world and it is a symbol of the united states.

    Yes, this is a famous symbol of New York City and America. My great-grandparents came to New York and passed Ellis Island when they immigrated here from Europe.

    yes Statue of Liberty is very famous in New York i also new about it before i came to New York. i have already been there and liked it it is a beautiful Statue.

    statue of liberty is one of the most famous symbol that symbolizes American culture. I have been there before on school trips but this summer hopefully Im going again to visit statue of liberty
